Folk Songs of Rural Ohio is the life work of Harry L. Ridenour, Professor of English at Baldwin-Wallace College from 1919-1952. The twenty-four-volume set in its entirety contains 1,484 songs collected from residents of Ohio from 1933-1937. The collection also includes histories of songs’ oral transmissions, bibliographies of song sources, an index of songs and contributors, and Professor Ridenour’s Thesis of Ohio Ballads.
